Novelis Oswego and the Oswego Renaissance Association Form Partnership to Restore Historic Montcalm Park Circular Fountain Bench
In the Historic Montcalm Park in Oswego, NY, an old circular stone bench that surrounds a fountain had been missing for over a decade. Many older residents fondly remember this bench when they were children growing up in the area. In the past 2 weeks the ORA, through a generous grant from Novelis Oswego, worked with local craftsman Mark Lagoda to cast and restore all 16 bench panels around the fountain. Each bench panel measures approx. 18" wide, 48" long and 3.5" thick. Each panel has 18 feet of steel rebar grid inside for extra support. Each section weighs 250 lbs., the bench circle is 21 feet in diameter and 74 feet circumference ...no small job.
The ORA and the community salute Novelis for investing in Oswego. When Spring comes, local residents will beautify the fountain and restore it to its former glory. We are excited to see new investment and building on Oswego's strengths.
